supporting local sport
Part of Darlington Building Society's ethos of looking after local interests is building enduring relationships with grass roots sport in the region. Below are just a few of the teams, organisations and individuals we have supported over the past few years.
Darlington Football Club (FC)
The Society was the main shirt sponsor of Darlington FC between 1997 and 2010, a record 13 consecutive seasons . The Society's logo was emblazoned across the team's shirts and the club benefited from the financial support provided by our Quakers' Supporter savings account.
North Yorkshire and South Durham (NYSD) Premier Cricket League
The Society has sponsored the North Yorkshire and South Durham (NYSD) Premier Cricket League since 1990, one of the most enduring sponsorships in cricket. The NYSD Premier Cricket League consists of 26 clubs throughout the region from Barnard Castle to Redcar.
Darlington Rubgy Football Club (RFC)
The Society was the club's first sponsor when it moved to its new home Blackwell Meadows in 1994, and over the years has been one of its most enduring supporters.
The Northern Echo Local Heroes Awards
Darlington Building Society sponsored the Northern Echo Local Heroes Awards since inception in 2000 up to 2008. The Society is keen to support grass roots sport in the region and saw Local Heroes as an ideal platform for local sportsmen and women to raise their profiles to an enthusiastic audience.
