success stories

Darlington Building Society recognise the continued effort, success and excellence displayed by many members of staff. In recognition of this Darlington Building Society present annual awards for both individual and team successes in the following catergories;

Volunteer Of The Year 2011

Winner: Kelly Barker (Arrears Assistant)

We are a mutual Building Society and as such our members are our life-blood. We offer a personal service through our branches and Head Office departments. Last year we decided to provide each branch with £150 to spend on local community projects. The scheme worked so well that in 2012 we are increasing the fund to £250 to spend on local good causes.

Kelly has a natural rapport with our members which is a delight to watch. She is popular with colleagues and has the ability to be positive even on the darkest days. The Options Social Club is there to provide social facilities for disabled adults over the age of 18. Kelly not only raised funds for the Social Club she was instrumental in providing PR for the Club and she also gives up her own time to help the people who use the Social Club.

 Branch Employee Of The Year 2011

Winner: Julie Bourne (South Cleveland District Manager)

The award this year was one of the most clear-cut winners ever. Julie won this award by demonstrating her positive attitude, ability to remain motivated even when things go wrong and her willingness to help others. Julie was also responsible for approximately 15% of the Society's gross mortgage lending during 2011.

As a supervisor his staff say he is "firm but fair" and describe him as being committed to his work with an excellent knowledge of IT.
