Darlington Building Society won both the Community Services Award and the Award for support of the Arts for the third consecutive year. We were the only mortgage lender at the event to win two awards.

At the 2004 awards ceremony the Society won the runners-up award in both the Community Services and Arts categories. Both categories were open to mortgage lenders country-wide.
Tees Valley Business Awards, 2004
Darlington Building Society won the Tees Valley Business Award for Business in the Community. The award recognises the Society's support of sports clubs, education initiatives, charities, economic development projects, the arts, crime prevention and youth organisations.

In 2003 the Society became the first mortgage lender to win the Mortgage Finance Gazette’s prestigious Community Services Award for regional lenders for two years in a row. The Society was also successful in the Arts Award category, being presented with the runners-up Award also for the second year running.
ROOM National Partnership Awards, 2002
The Society’s Helping Hand savings and loan scheme was highly commended. The scheme was designed to combat financial exclusion in the Tees Valley. It is facilitated by Darlington Building Society in partnership with five local Housing Associations to provide their tenants with access to a simple passbook based savings scheme and availability of modest loans, without formality. More than 10,000 households in the region are eligible to benefit.
