society pulls out all the stops to get prize draw christmas hampers to winners

Darlington Building Society has pulled out all the stops to get Christmas hampers to the winners of its Yuletide draw in time for the festivities.
The names of customers, who took out a quote for buildings and/or contents insurance, were put in a draw to win a hamper packed full of goodies from Marks & Spencer.
Each of the Society’s thirteen branches spread throughout the region had its own hamper so there were actually 13 separate prize draws.
Unsurprisingly, most of the winners were local to the branches, but the Northallerton branch hamper was won by a Leeds resident.
To make sure the prizewinner got her hamper before Christmas, a Society member of staff gave it to a relative who drove down to Selby in atrocious weather conditions to deliver the hamper to the lucky winner whilst she was attending her works Christmas celebrations. Needless to say she was impressed and surprised with such a personal level of service.
Nicky Tweddle, Insurance Adviser at Darlington Building Society said, said: “Not everyone realises that building societies can arrange this sort of insurance cover, so this was an excellent opportunity for people to see if the cover available was cheaper than an existing policy.
“We were inundated with inquiries for quotes during the campaign with about 200 names being entered into the prize draw.
“Most of the winners lived near one of our branches so they were able to pick up their hamper from there but where this was inconvenient a member of the Society’s staff arranged a doorstep delivery. However, the Northallerton branch winner was from Leeds so we had to pull out all the stops to make sure that she got her prize in time for the family Christmas celebrations because, after all, the prize was a Christmas Hamper.”
The draw was made by Darlington Football Club assistant manager Kevin Richardson and Darlington Building Society is most grateful to Kevin and the Club for their valuable support.
