"branch of the year" awards at darlington building society

At its annual staff conference held recently in Darlington, the region’s only local building society, Darlington Building Society, announced the winner of its Branch of the Year Award.
This award is presented to the branch which has not only achieved the best sales performance over the year but has outshone the other branches in terms of customer service and support.
For the first time in many years there was a tie for first place and the award was shared with the Society’s Billingham and Cockerton branches.
The Society’s Chairman, Chris Fleetwood, presented the winners’ shield to Michael Bainbridge, Office Manager at Billingham and Julie Temple, who leads the Cockerton team. They were also joined on stage by the rest of the staff from both branches to share the celebrations.
On making the presentation Chris said, “Congratulations to all the staff members from these two branches for all the hard work they have put in during 2009. This recognition is well deserved by all”.
He added, “2009 was a challenging year for all financial services firms but against that backdrop Darlington Building Society has performed well. While it is the staff members from our Cockerton and Billingham branches who have been singled out on this occasion, all of the Society’s staff deserve praise for their hard work and dedication during 2009 for maintaining our ethos of looking after local interests”.
