Cancer Research Teesdale

Cancer Research Teesdale

The Teesdale branch of Cancer Research UK was formed 40 years ago and since that date we have raised over £900,000 for research into all types of Cancer for the Northern Institute for Cancer Research.

Throughout the year we hold various fundraising events such as:- coffee mornings, raffles, tombola, race nights, bingo nights, sponsored bike rides and runs, balls, pink nights.  We are also supported by the community who hold their own fundraising events and pass the proceeds on to Cancer Research UK Teesdale.  In November we hold our Christmas Fair when a scientist from Newcastle opens our fair and accepts a cheque for the money raised over the year.

For the last two years we have been dividing our money between Professor Herbie Newell's Research at Newcastle and Kids and Teens Research at Newcastle which has recently opened a new Research centre.

Cancer Research UK is the world' leading cancer charity dedicated to saving lives through research.  Cancer Research UK receives no government funding for its life saving Research.  Every step it makes towards beating cancer relies on every donation made.  Today 2 in 4 people survive their cancer for at least ten years.  Cancer Research UK's ambition is to accelerate progress so that by 2034, 3 in 4 people will survive cancer their cancer for at last ten years.
