Volunteering In Action

The volunteer programme was set up in order to encourage members of staff to get involved in initiatives which have the aim to help local causes. Also, we encourage staff to seek out their own opportunities but we also work with Hambleton Community Action, Durham Community Action and Darlington Cares to provide you with a chance to get involved.

We are delighted to have been able to get involved with the Sleep Out. Coatham House runs some fantastic projects for young homeless people across Teesside and raising awareness of these is so important. Sleeping outside on a cold January night was not a pleasant experience, it is hard to imagine that so many young people across the Tees Valley have to go through that every night. Everyone at Darlington Building Society loves to get behind and support local causes, I must thank the wonderful staff and members at the Redcar branch who got involved and helped us raise so much money for the Sleep Out.

The swim was certainly very challenging but definitely worth it, I am very grateful to those who supported me and helped me raise a fantastic amount for such a worthy cause.
