Today Homes England announced the launch of the Help to Build scheme.
Commenting on the launch, Andrew Craddock, Chief Executive at Darlington Building Society, said:
“For 165 years Darlington Building Society’s core purpose has been to help make the dream of home ownership a reality. Therefore, the Society warmly welcomes the Help to Build initiative. The scheme will make it easier and more affordable for people with low deposits to build their own homes.
“Building sufficient homes to meet increasing demand remains a key challenge for our country. The Society views Help to Build as an important step towards delivering self-and-custom built homes at scale.
“We also believe this initiative supports the green agenda. It opens up more opportunities to build high-quality, well-designed, and energy-efficient homes – contributing towards Net Zero Housing ambitions.
“Over the past decade, Darlington Building Society has partnered with BuildLoan to develop a wealth of experience in the self-and-custom build market. We are delighted to be one of the first lenders to offer mortgages in support of Help to Build.
“The beauty of this scheme is that it will help more people onto the property ladder and also enable them to own tailor-made homes to suit their specific needs and aspirations.”
