Yesterday, Redcar played host to the Tour of Britain cycle race, and we were on hand to support the prestigious event.
Colleagues manned a stall along the route, welcoming spectators. We also held a competition and invited spectators to take part – one lucky winner took home a Kindle as their prize.
The fourth stage of the race started in Redcar today and was televised across the world. The Tour of Britain features Olympic, World Champion and Tour De France riders, and today marked the first time that the seaside town has hosted.
Lisa Sidgwick, Senior Branch Manager said: “What a fantastic way to put Redcar on the map. The Tour of Britain is a huge event, and the UK’s most prestigious cycle race. With such close ties to our local communities, we were naturally thrilled to support in our own way.
“Our Redcar branch recently celebrated its first ‘birthday’ in its new prominent location, so it was wonderful to meet people, see some familiar faces and soak up the incredible atmosphere that surrounded the branch today.”
