Clare Wilson was promoted to the position of Head of Distribution at the start of 2022 and brings a wealth of experience to her vital role in the organisation.

Born and raised in Middlesbrough, Clare joined a Youth Training Scheme with the Halifax Building Society straight from school.

As well as studying business and finance at college one day a week, she was given invaluable experience in the full range of building society roles and went on to become a mortgage adviser before moving into branch management.

During her 26 years’ service with ‘The Halifax’ she also managed mortgage advisers and financial advisers before deciding to take an 18-months break from work to be a mum to her son, Oliver.

She then joined Darlington Building Society in September 2017 as manager of the Middlesbrough branch before rising to become Branch Operations Manager in January 2019.

Her latest role as Head of Direct Distribution shapes everything relating to member experience with savings and mortgages: making sure the mortgage network meets their needs; and maximizing the Society’s impact in the community.

“Darlington Building Society is an organisation known for investing in its staff and I’m thrilled to be given the opportunity to make a difference in a role that’s right at the heart of what the Society is all about – giving members get the best possible service, while supporting our communities in the most effective ways possible.”
