A colleague who joined Darlington Building Society as an apprentice just two years ago is continuing to climb the career ladder.
Chloe Baldwin, who was born and raised in Darlington, joined the Society as a Customer Service Assistant Apprentice in September 2020, having previously worked in a call centre.
She was promoted to Trainee Customer Services Consultant in August 2021, and then became Customer Services Consultant in February this year.
Chloe has now progressed further to become a Senior Customer Services Consultant and is an outstanding example of how the Society grows its own talent.
The new role means she has responsibilities across all nine branches, gets involved in training new recruits, tests systems, and covers for branch managers.
She says: “I love my new role because I enjoy getting out around all the branches, interacting with the staff, and meeting members from different areas. I also enjoy the extra responsibility and getting involved in new areas of the business.”
Chloe is a passionate advocate of both apprenticeships and Darlington Building Society as an employer.
“I would 100% recommend the apprenticeship route, and Darlington Building Society is amazing when it comes to rewarding hard work,” she says.
“I honestly don’t think I would have had the opportunities I’ve been given without the apprenticeship. It’s helped me to develop in so many ways professionally. It’s really helped to build my confidence when dealing with customers.”
The Level 2 apprenticeship was delivered in partnership with Middlesbrough College, which assigned a tutor to keep in touch with the Society.
“It was so well organised, with such a lot of support every step of the way,” Chloe says.
Her ambition is to keep progressing with the Society and hopes to go into a managerial role one day.
