A YOUNG couple have thanked Darlington Building Society for making their dream of buying their first home a reality.

Primary school teacher Isabella Rotondi and her partner Robert Morgan both used Help To Buy ISAs at the Society to save for their deposit on a three-bedroomed, semi-detached house in Acklam, Middlesbrough.

Isabella and Robert, a welding inspector, then used the bonus from the Individual Savings Accounts to help buy furnishings for the house.

Isabella, who teaches at a school in central Middlesbrough, said: “A friend told me how good the ISAs were at Darlington Building Society, and it turned out to be really good advice.”

The couple opened the accounts at the Society’s Middlesbrough branch and described the experience as first-class.

“I couldn’t recommend Darlington Building Society and the ISA scheme highly enough,” said Isabella. “Buying a house is a stressful process but dealing with the Society was the easiest part. They made it so simple, and personalised the service to us to meet our needs.

“The staff were so friendly from start to finish and put us completely at ease. I’d have no hesitation in using them again.”

Isabella said it had also been an extra bonus to hear that Darlington Building Society donates five per cent of its profits to good causes in the community.

The Help to Buy ISA scheme is no longer available, however Darlington Building Society offer a Cash ISA to help towards savings goals.

Currently accounts can be opened by telephone or post, but face-to-face appointments remain unavailable due to Covid-19 restrictions.

It is important to remember that every mortgage is secured on the individual(s) home which they could lose if they do not keep up their mortgage payments.
