“To be named the third best financial services company to work for in the UK is a fantastic achievement for Darlington Building Society. For an organisation of our size to achieve this placement amongst our peers is amazing.

“Furthermore, our ambition to be a local employer of choice was reinforced by our being named as the twelfth best company in the north east to work.

“With the icing on the cake being named as the nineteenth best mid-sized company in the UK to work for.  Completely overwhelming!

“At Darlington Building Society we truly value our staff. We strive to provide the most productive work environment for colleagues to thrive in personally and professionally.

“We offer fully flexible working from the first day of employment. We pay above the Real Living Wage as a minimum, including to staff aged under 18. Staff pensions receive an 8% employer contribution. We nurture and ‘grow our own’ talent by investing in training and development.

“In 2021 we rebalanced our branch opening hours and shift patterns so that branch staff can achieve their ideal work-life balance.

“Often, we do all of this under the premise of business as usual. However, with such a fantastic accolade to share, now is the time to highlight everything that comes together to make Darlington Building Society such a special place to be a part of.”
