Society shares ice cream for charity

At Darlington Building Society, we’re big on sharing. And when the sun shines, we want to share even more!

In April, during one of the hottest days of the year, our team took to the streets of Darlington and Redcar to share with our communities by offering free ice cream to the public.

This was a great opportunity for us to give back to the communities we serve and the sharing didn’t stop at the ice cream!

For every empty pot returned, £1 was donated to the charity chosen by the public for that branch.

A brilliant 251 pots were returned for our Tubwell Row branch charity, Bike Stop in Darlington while an amazing 186 tubs came back through the door in Redcar for Jessica’s Smile.

That’s a total of £437 given to support the hard work of local charities, just for enjoying a refreshing treat on a hot day.

Our Tubwell Row branch manager Chris really enjoyed seeing so many friendly faces come through the door. He said: “It was amazing to do something so simple to give back to the hard-working charities we partner with.”

We might not always have ice cream, but there’s always a friendly face waiting for you at your nearest Darlington Building Society branch, so pop in to chat about how we can help you save for your next big treat!
