Here at Darlington Building Society, our team are at the very heart of what we do.
This means their wellbeing is of utmost importance to us, and we have a variety of measures in place to ensure each member is looked after and valued.
To this end, we hold regular staff forums where the team can have their say on what they’d like to see put in place to boost their wellbeing at work. Further to this, we hold twice-yearly wellbeing weeks – in Summer and Winter – with a range of activities to make sure health and wellbeing is at the forefront of everyone’s minds.
People Excellence officer Gina Pelleschi tells us: “We are a family at Darlington Building Society, and we naturally look after each other every day.
“As a company we put massive importance on doing what is right for our team and putting this at the centre of all our business activities.
“We really care about each individual colleague; we want them to be happy at work and for it to be a positive part of their lives.”
We also offer an Employee Assistance Programme, a benefit scheme that supports colleagues with any work or personal problem that may be affecting their mental health. On top of this, we also have 14 trained mental health first aiders across the business, along with access to telephone counselling for any team member who needs it.

“People spend a great deal of their time at work and we want to ensure that all our team remain happy, healthy and well-supported during their time with us.
